So yeah we’ve all had our scandalous hook-ups in unusual spots. May that be an elevator, middle of woods, or history museum next to the T-rex, but when does scandalous turn to skankiness? At what age is it acceptable to be caught doing the dirty in public. According to Serena age doesn’t matter, but that rule doesn’t go for everyone…
So in case you missed the first five minutes because you had to lie to your boyfriend that you needed to go do homework when really you just wanted to watch Gossip Girl by yourself (no worries babe we’ve all done it). Serena and Dan woke up next to each other on the beach where they obviously slept together. Romantic? NO! You’re in the Hamptons baby, save rolling around in the sand for when you can’t afford somewhere to stay (but of course that would never happen to a GG….well maybe not everyone, sorry Nate). This late night sac session was then proceeded by a shall we saw afternoon cuddle? While Dan and Serena were on the bus (once again Serena played the part of a middle class citizen – Don’t downgrade yourself babe!) back to the city Serena was trying her hardest to seduce Dan. Serena, lets keep the chocolate-covered strawberry eating for Ron Jeremy movies, okay? I guess the two just couldn’t contain their excitement for each other or maybe they just don’t like beds, because they ended up getting it on in the bathroom bus, ew! Maybe they don’t know that doing it on a bus doesn’t make them a member of the mile-high club, just the 4-foot high club. The theme of scandalous hook ups was reiterated when Blair walked in on Nate straddling his older woman on the library floor.
So are these little sexcapades acceptable behavior for a high school or even college student or is it just inappropriate? I thought about this question and my only response is would you want to be the friend, flight attendant, or security guard to find two people tangled in a sea of limbs? No. Sex in public is okay until someone intrudes on the shag session, then that is just skanky. According to The Sexual Offences Act (2003) their opinion agrees. The Act is not specifically against the practice of sex in public if it is in an isolated place and the couple have a reasonable expectation of privacy. So as long as you have some privacy and don’t disrupt the public you are good to go.

Okay, so the beach and library were acceptable but what about Dan and Serena’s bathroom incident? Is it appropriate for two 17 year olds to bluntly follow each other into a public bathroom? I find that regardless of age it is neither appropriate, nor sanitary to have sex in a public bathroom. Yeah it may make for a good story but the chances are your little session will be disrupted shortly leading you to and your partner embarrassment.
Although I disapprove of real life teenagers partaking in sexual behavior in clear view of the public eye, my girlfriends I did yell phrases of encouragement at the TV when S and D were on the bus. So will GG have more saucy hook ups in mischievous places this season? Lets hope so but lets try to keep it out of onlooker’s sight. Until then shot me a comment or a funny story of a friend who has gotten caught shagging in public (no names please and lets keep this PG-13).

I must say I do yet again agree on this whole topic on what age is appropriate, or in this case what isn't. It seems like the juicer scenes are in TV the less likely they would be that heated in real life. Putting these glamorous people in a real life situation [the bus] I'm sure it would smell so bad in there from another prior to them actually using the bathroom. Talk about disgusting and so very unromantic. The strawberry eating scene was a little much, and I certainly could've done without actually seeing Nate and his cougar on the floor doing the deed. Eww. I mean talking about it and seeing it done are two very different things. Seeing it actually made it more real, and let's face it a bit more disturbing that these actors are supposed to be 17 years old. I know I'd hate to see any of my friends doing these types of things in public. Let alone hear about it. The show is trying to be a bit more scandalous, but it still has me hooked. Who doesn't love a weekly dose of upper-class teen drama? I loved the entry, and the amusing link. People with free time are to say the least creative. :) Haha
Oh Gossip Girl. Always seems to have the best hook ups on the face of this earth. I must say, if I heard two of my friends had sex on a bus, the beach and the library, I would be completely grossed out, but it seems to be perfectly fine when its on Gossip Girl. Maybe it was because the characters are completely gorgeous, but I guess its more the idea of what a fantasy life is. Because everything is so far from reality and everyone’s lives seem so perfect that the act of public sex just seems perfect too.
Also, the idea of an affair is something so common on TV shows but when we see it happen in real life it is something so wrong and looked down upon. With TV shows, the people seem to fall in love with each other or even if it happens, the people are forgiven and go on living their amazing lives. With society looking upon affairs, especially among people with a large age difference, so negatively, a person could never overcome that mistake, if the secret had been leaked out. I wonder how Gossip Girl is going to handle the affair situation between Nate and the Duchess.
I think shows like Gossip Girl also encourage sex in public places. Every time my girlfriends and I get together to watch Gossip Girl and there is a sex scene in a semi public place, it seems to bring up the topic of how that is a fantasy for them. Shows how much influence a TV show has over teenage girl’s lives, ay?

Before I get started, I think we all need to agree that Gossip Girl is way too over the top, which, for some people, is the whole reason they watch it. Nate is having sex with some almost-forty-year-old Dutchess whose son is dating Blair, who was making out with Chuck in the dark when the power went Nate's mom asked to loan her family some money... Would this stuff ever happen in real life? Probably not, but it makes for great television.
And as for the multiple sexual encounters per episode, one of my friends (also male), when explaining why he watches Gossip Girl, said "Dude it's so great, they have sex all the time." While this may seem like a stupid reason to watch a tv show every Monday night, it won over at least one viewer.
Sorry I don't have any juicy stories about public hookups to share with you, but maybe I've added a rare male perspective to help shed some light on the inclusion of lots and lots of sex.

I gotta say I really like this blog post, I have never seen Gossip Girls or even heard of it until I read your blog and from just reading it I can say that I know what it is about, I know what is going on and at the same time I know your thoughts about it. It’s also really easy to follow, you start great by letting me know what everything is and what’s going on and then you give your thoughts on it. The whole sex in public thing I would say it’s not inappropriate until whoever is crazy enough to do it gets caught, but in the bathroom in the bus…that’s just pushing it and I would say that only some freaky people would that that in real life cause it’s just nasty! But besides that all the sex on this show just makes good television because we all know sex always catches our attention. And to be honest I might just even try to watch the show tomorrow because it does seem interesting…I mean they have sex everywhere!

Who does that anyway?? I wouldn't... Ever.. That girl has NO respect for herself... And where is her mother to tell her this is wrong? Good blog girl!
